The Jets may not feature quarterback Jordan Travis in his debut season, however, the rookie fifth-round selection is setting his sights on seizing the primary role in the future.
Travis is slated to be a backup for Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor once he is back from the fractured leg that wrapped up his 2023 season prematurely, hindering Florida State’s chance at a college football playoff spot. He expressed at the team’s rookie minicamp his intention to carefully observe their every move to understand what it entails to become Rodgers’ heir as the top quarterback for the Jets.
“I ponder that idea frequently, but for now, I am concentrating on my current situation — recuperating, uplifting everyone around me, and being a supportive teammate,” Travis mentioned, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.
The shift from Rodgers to Jordan Love with the Packers was not smooth, yet the timing could be in New Jersey’s favor if Travis advances in time for Rodgers to retire.
