Dejounte Murray made a crucial basket in the dying seconds of overtime to guide the Atlanta Hawks to a thrilling 123-122 victory over the Boston Celtics.
27-year-old Murray achieved a career-best 44 points, with all 11 points for the Hawks in the overtime period at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Earlier on Monday, the Hawks staged an incredible comeback, erasing a 30-point deficit to beat the Celtics 120-118.
As it stands, the Celtics lead the Eastern Conference while the Hawks are positioned 10th.
“They are the top team in the league – we gave it our all,” Murray expressed.
Despite suffering consecutive losses to Atlanta, the Celtics had a nine-game winning streak and are guaranteed a spot in the upcoming playoffs as the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
In a separate match, the New Orleans Pelicans secured a 107-100 triumph over the Milwaukee Bucks at Smoothie King Center.
Zion Williamson contributed 28 points, supported by CJ McCollum’s 25, to lead the hosts to victory, while Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 35 points.
“[Williamson] is carrying the team on his shoulders,” stated Pelicans coach Willie Green.
“It was a gutsy win on our home court. We delivered a solid defensive performance and played with intensity from start to finish.”
