Today, Bethesda introduced a new upgrade for Fallout 4, and unfortunately, it has caused a key mod to malfunction.
Numerous mods have been affected by this update, including the highly valuable Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE). F4SE, a crucial modding tool, enhances scripting abilities without causing permanent issues. Many mods depend on this project to function properly, so without it, modifying Fallout 4 becomes significantly more complex.
Developer ianpatt of F4SE stated in a message, “The Fallout 4 update on April 25, 2024 (1.10.980 and later) has disrupted F4SE and other mods using native code, similar to Skyrim’s ‘Anniversary Edition’ patch. I am actively working on an update but cannot guarantee when it will be ready or if there will be any critical technical obstacles. Please refrain from sending inquiries via email.”
Unveiled over eight years after the game’s initial release, Bethesda’s recent Fallout 4 update for next-gen consoles includes performance enhancements, Creation Club additions, and other features. This marks a thrilling moment for fans of the franchise, many of whom have returned to the game due to the Prime Video series. Fortunately, players have already devised methods to safeguard their modding experience from being spoiled by the update.
The comment section of F4SE on Nexus Mods contains various guides detailing how users can disable auto-updates and even roll back the recent update. User Destructionares shared a guide outlining the steps to revert the update if it was automatically installed.
Moreover, GameRevolution provided a guide for those yet to download the update, and another informative post can be found on the Nexus Mods site. Unfortunately, unless players are willing to play the base version of Fallout 4 until mod updates are available, the only way to enjoy mods is to revert the update or hope that the game hasn’t been updated.
While players are devising solutions, it is not just ordinary mods that are being impacted by Bethesda’s next-gen update. The immensely popular Fallout London mod, which introduces new storylines, locations, and more, was initially set to launch earlier this week. However, due to the Fallout 4 update being announced, Team Folon had to delay its release. A new release date has not been announced, as the team is uncertain how long it will take to address Bethesda’s alterations.
