“I have observed the football style that the Detroit Lions favor and I’m pleased to be a part of the team now,” Wingo expressed during a Zoom interview following his selection.
Furthermore, he served as a captain for LSU, which speaks volumes about his mental fortitude and leadership skills. He worked on his recovery to make a comeback for LSU’s bowl game, a choice not many NFL prospects make.
At LSU, Wingo was honored with the prestigious No. 18 jersey, designated for the player who embodies the qualities and essence that epitomize ‘LSU greatness.’
“That’s the kind of person I am,” he remarked about his commitment to returning to play in LSU’s bowl game after rehab. “Wearing No. 18 and being that leader, I had encountered an injury earlier in the year and didn’t feel like I had completed my ’18’ season.”
“I could have easily given up, but it deeply affected me to see my team lose games while I was sidelined. So, following my surgery, I dedicated myself to intense rehabilitation to swiftly return to the field and stand with my teammates one final time.”
